Eureka Models NSWGR 38 Class Re-Run – 3801 Sample Arrives for Rosehill Exhibition

Eureka Models NSWGR 38 Class Re-Run – 3801 Sample Arrives for Rosehill Exhibition

Exciting news for HO scale model steam train enthusiasts — Eureka Models’ NSWGR 38 Class re-run is well underway, with the final engineering sample of 3801 arriving just in time for the Rosehill Exhibition.

This updated release brings improved detail, enhanced electronics, and refined sound performance — all designed to capture the power and presence of one of New South Wales’ most iconic steam locomotives.

Pre-orders are now open — don’t miss your chance to secure one of these highly anticipated models.

Production-Ready Sample Impresses at Rosehill

The newly arrived 3801 engineering sample is production-ready, with only minor refinements such as wheel and buffer blackening to be completed once the out-sourced components arrive.

During initial DC testing, the model performed flawlessly, confirming the precision and reliability that Eureka Models is known for. The sample has now been handed over to Terry Flynn and John Zubrickas for fitting a Zimo MS440C decoder and custom sound installation.

Zimo Decoder Technology and Upgrade Options

Following the success of the recent AD60 Class re-run, the 38 Class will feature the same Zimo MS440C decoder, offering exceptional sound quality, smooth operation, and advanced control for DCC users.

Eureka Models also plans to make replacement printed circuit boards available for owners of the original 38 Class models who wish to upgrade to Zimo decoder compatibility.
For upgrade enquiries, contact John Zubrickas at johnezee@gmail.com.

The 3801 sample with the Zimo decoder and full sound package will be running live on the Waterfall layout at the Rosehill Exhibition this weekend — a must-see for steam enthusiasts and model collectors alike.

Delivery Schedule and Next Steps

The factory has confirmed that decoration samples for all versions of the 38 Class will be sent at the end of October, with full production delivery expected before Chinese New Year.

This marks a major milestone in the return of one of Eureka Models’ most beloved HO scale steam locomotives.
